Alan Hesleden
Position: Chief Race Engineer
My experience in racing . . .
I started my working life in collage working for my HNC in technical Engineering. I have won 10 silver replicas (trophies) from racing in the Isle of Man tt races.
I have held lap records on most tracks in the UK but they have all been broken, obviously. I have also worked on most race bikes thoughout my career, and have been race engineer for a British Super Bike team in the 80s and have been involved in some way or another repairing and setting up race bikes for my regular customers.
I was dragged kicking and screaming on a cold wet day to Brands Hatch to meet a young guy by the now race team manager Gary Subbington. I set the Kawasaki 600 up and watched for the day and the rider immediately impressed me with his speed and smoothness.
I was asked by Gary if I would look after the bikes and come to the meetings for set ups. Since I have joined, the team has progressed immensely. I enjoy the race weekends. Racing should be fun but also competitive. The team are becoming more professional as race weekends go by, riders are beginning to read the bike and what he needs to do to improve their lap-times. We have, as with all race teams good and bad races, but my aim is to give the riders race bikes to go racing with.
With the additional signing of Dennis Hobbs joining Westy and Dan on the grid, Centurion Racing are in a strong position to offer British Supersport some excellent racing in 2008.
